Nadim Nasser, 83, of Cicero, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on January 18, 2020. He was a devoted husband, amazing father, caring grandfather and a special relative to many.
Born in Haifa on July 24, 1936, he immigrated to Canada with the love of his life and wife of 58 years, Nabila, and eventually to the Syracuse area. Prior to his retirement, Nadim was a dry cleaning & laundry business owner and also worked as a machinist/tool and die maker, whose hard work and attention to detail allowed him to excel at his craft.
Nadim will be remembered as a very kind person with an outgoing personality whose greatest pleasure was spending time with his family and friends. He loved nothing more than telling jokes and making people laugh. His sharp wit, one-of-a-kind sense of humor and amusing mannerisms made him the center of any room he was in. You couldn’t help but instantly fall in love with him.
Nadim’s true passion lied in playing games of skill including chess, billiards, poker and backgammon. He was notorious for giving riddles and logic puzzles to others and would refer to it as a “brain massage.” He will be dearly missed, and we will always remember that we were lucky to have had the gift of Nadim in our lives.
Nadim was predeceased by his parents, Anis and Fadwa (Salloum) Nasser, and brothers, Halim, Victor and Fahim Nasser.
He is survived by his wife, Nabila (Jiries) Nasser; his daughter, Ruthie (Rick) Della Pelle of Cicero; his son, Lawrence Nasser of Cicero; his brother, Nassim Nasser of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Nicholas (Christina) Della Pelle, Nadine Della Pelle; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
