Carolyn "MeMa" Neidel

Carolyn “MeMa” Neidel, 78, of Morgan Square Senior Apartments, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Loretto Skilled Rehabilitation in Syracuse. Born in Schenectady, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Frank and Helen (Parravani) Civitello. She was a 1960 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School in Schenectady and resided most of her adult life in the Bayberry area.

Carolyn worked as a teacher’s aide for several years during the 1970’s at Craven Crawford Elemntary School. She was a member of the Cicero Senior Center and a former member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Schenectady. Carolyn loved doing ceramics. Her greatest love in life was being MeMa to her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her former husband, Charles Neidel, in 2017.

Carolyn is survived by her two children, Cindy Toole of Liverpool and Robert (Caryn) Neidel of Attleboro, MA; two sisters, Phyllis (Joseph) Miele of Schenectady and Mary Ann Mackay of East Greenbush, NY; beloved MeMa to: Nicholas (Kyle Voyer) Laure, Ryan (Ashley) Toole, Jessica Neidel, Justin Neidel, and Saren Laure; her great granddaughter, Bella, and a great grandson "Baby Boy Toole" expected in March; a god daughter, Michele; and by several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Friday, October 9th, from 4:00 -7:00 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale, with a Service following at 7:00 pm. Face coverings will be required, and CDC & NYS Dept. of Health guidelines will be enforced. Services will be live streamed on our website beneath her obituary and on Facebook.
