Timothy J. Newman, 62, lifelong resident of Mattydale, died Wednesday at the VA Medical Center in Syracuse. Timothy was a graduate of North Syracuse High School, Class of 1970, and had attended Bishop Grimes High School as well. After school, Tim joined the US Navy as a Communications Specialist serving in Iceland and Guantanamo Bay. He owned and operated Dixon Delivery in Syracuse for several years.
Tim was an avid fisherman who especially enjoyed the walleye tournament at Oneida Lake. He liked playing cribbage and poker and was a big S.U. fan. Tim was a former communicant of St. Margaret's Church in Mattydale.
He was predeceased by his father, Francis in 1985 and his brother, Thomas J. in 1980.
Tim is survived by his mother, Nanine "Nan" Newman of Central Square and formerly of Mattydale; three children: Jason Newman of Syracuse, Timothy J. (Jennifer) Newman, Jr. of Baldwinsville, and Nicole Mineo of Syracuse; his five siblings: Mark (Nancy) Newman of North Syracuse, Brian (Sheri) Newman of Cleveland, Christine (Philip) Bova of Baldwinsville, Kevin Newman of Cleveland, and Mary (Michael) Pandossi of Central Square; three grandchildren: Emma, Addison, and Zach; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Sunday from 1 - 4 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale, with a 4 pm service following.
