Michael T. Oleksak, 78, of Mattydale, died peacefully on Friday with his family by his side. Michael was a native of Jessup, PA and had resided in Mattydale for the past 53 years.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and served as a radio operator in Greece with the UN Special Commission on the Balkins. Michael worked for 40 years in the dry wall business; 30 of those years, he owned and operated Michael's Dry Wall Company. He was a member of the Salina Civic Seniors and a communicant of St. Margaret's Church.
Michael was predeceased by his father, Michael in 1987, his mother, Stella in 1977, and more recently three brothers-in-law, and his great nephew.
Michael is survived by his wife of 52 years the former Joyce Kline, his daughter: Linda Hunter of Syracuse; two sons: Mark Leslie Oleksak of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, and Donald Kimberly Oleksak of Richboro, PA; three sisters Ruth Wilkins of North Syracuse, Reggina Kurtz of Mattydale, Lorraine VanVranken of Tupper Lake, a brother Joseph Grace Oleksak of Herkimer, four grandchildren: Michael Hunter, Benjamin, Julia, and Kathryn Oleksak; and many nieces & nephews.
Friends may call on Monday from 4-7pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale. Services will be at 10:30am on Tuesday at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret's church at 11:00am. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Liverpool.
