Rev. Robert "Bob" Overmier, 85, long time resident of Mattydale, died Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital. Bob was a native of Fremont, Ohio and resided on McKenney Ave in Mattydale since 1960. He was the son of the late Oliver and Zella (Bolen) Overmier.
Bob was a World War II US Army veteran. He came home and received his Masters Degree in Divinity in 1958 from Oberlin Graduate School of Theology. Bob served as a United Methodist Pastor for 35 years at many local parishes including Calvary United Methodist in Mattydale, South Onondaga Cardiff United Methodist and Bridgeport United Methodist Church before retiring in 1989. He was a volunteer driver for North Area Meals on Wheels.
Bob was predeceased by his daughter, Debra McCallister, in 2003 and by his granddaughter, Jessica Bennett, in 1987.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, the former Natalia "Nellie" (Domingos); their daughter: Claudia (Richard) Bennett of Rochester; one brother: Roy Overmier of OH; his five grandchildren, Kristy (David) Ross, Brian (Erika) and David McCallister all of OH, Dustin and Mitchell Bennett both of Rochester; two great grandchildren: Cora McCallister and Brady Ross; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, 12 Noon at the former Calvary United Methodist Church in Mattydale.
