John J. Palencar, 84, of Brookline Rd. Mattydale died Monday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. A native of Wilkes-Bare, PA, he resided in the Syracuse area for the past 50 years. He retired in 1985 after 18 years as an Automatic Machine Repairman for the Crouse Hinds Co., prior to that he worked as shipping clerk at the Owl Wire and Cable Co. John was an Army Air Force veteran and served in the Phillipines during WW II. He was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #3146 and the American Legion Post #1832 both in Mattydale. He was also a communicant of St. Margaret?s Church in Mattydale.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, the former Rose M. Polifroni two sons Joseph Palencar of Winston-Salem, NC and John and his wife Marti Palencar of Jupiter, Fl, 6 grandchildren, several great grandchildren five sisters-n-law and two brothers-in-law.
Friends may call today Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at the Krueger Funeral Home 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am Friday in St. Margaret?s Church. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery.
