Catherine "Kate" Palmer, 97, of East Molloy Road in Mattydale, died Monday, May 15th in Michigan. Kate was a native of East Syracuse where she attended school before moving to Wetzel Road in Liverpool for 5 years and finally settling in Mattydale in 1951. She was the daughter of the late Alvin R. and Frances (Burke) Whipple.
Kate worked as an assembler on the television line, in the Heavy Military Division and finally as a supervisor for General Electric on Electronics Parkway before retiring in 1974 after 25 years. Following her retirement, Kate worked for Deluxe Check Printing. She was a longtime member of the YMCA where she loved to swim and a member of many bowling leagues including the General Electric team at Strike 'N Spare. Kate was a parishioner of St. Margaret's Church in Mattydale.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Murray Palmer Sr. in 1983, her four sons, Murray Jr., Richard, James, Roy Palmer, and by two grandsons, Danny and Roy Dennis Palmer.
Surviving are her two children: Sandra Knapp of Minoa, and Keith (Melinda) Palmer of MI; her ten grandchildren: Murray III, Cindy, Shannon, Paula, Richard, Corine, Renee, Andrew, Zachary, and Kelsey.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be St. Margaret's Church at a date and time TBA. Private burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt.
