John ?Jack? F. Perkis, 80 of Vernon Rd. Cicero, died Saturday at St. Joseph?s Health Care Center. A native of Chicago, Mr. Perkis resided in Cicero since 1967.
Jack attended Knox College and the University of Illinois. He was a veteran of WW II and served in the Army Air Corp. He retired in 1987 after 30 years as a Purchasing Director at the Carrier Corp. in Syracuse. He was a member of the Quiet Birdmen, Silver Wings Fraternity, American Aviation Historical Society, Glenn Curtiss Museum, Aviation Historical Society of Central NY Founder, Rhinebeck Aerodrome Museum, Society of Automotive Historians, Oneida Lake Region, Antique Automobile Club of America, REO Club of America and Antique Studebaker Club. He was also a past president and member of the board of directors of the North Syracuse Cemetery Association. He was active in aviation historical and antique automobile areas, and served on Hancock International Airport Advisory Committee. Jack was an Honorary Member of Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department Inc. since 1994. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Cicero.
Jack was pre-deceased by his first wife, Marie M. in 1992, a son John Jr. in 1969, 2 brothers, James W. and Frank C., a sister Hope Young. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, the former Karen A. Brooks 3 daughters, Sharon Frazzini of Olympia, WA., Victoria Perkis of Ellensburg, WA., and Kathy Perkis of Ft. Worth, TX., a son Michael of Rochester, NY, seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
Friends may call Friday 2 ? 4 and 7 ? 9 at Krueger Funeral 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Saturday at Sacred Heart Church in Cicero.
