Gloria C. Phillips, longtime resident of Crystalwood Drive in Liverpool, died Tuesday at James Square Health Center. Born in Ogdensburg on April 21, 19??, Gloria was the daughter of the late Charles and Hazel Sypes Corkins.
She worked as a real estate agent for William Allen Real Estate before retiring in the 1990?s. Gloria was a former nursery school teacher and den mother. Gloria was a member of the American Legion Post #1832 Ladies Auxiliary in Mattydale, a former board member of the Mattydale Hinsdale Chamber of Commerce, and a supporting member of the Liverpool United Methodist Church.
She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, George ?Bud? H. Phillips, and by a brother, Basil Corkins.
Surviving are her two sons: David R. Tamara Phillips of N. Thetford, VT, and Michael C. Maria Phillips of Oswego; three step-children: Becki Bateman, Jeffrey C. Phillips, and George H. Phillips; a sister: Marian Gonseth of Albany; several grandchildren including: Erin, Heather, Justin, Evan, Michael, Mitchell, Angie, and Jennie; her great granddaughter, Kaylin; as well as her longtime friend and companion, Walter C. Otis of Liverpool, who was her angel in disguise.
Friends may call Saturday from 2-5pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale, with a 5:00 pm service following. Spring burial will be in Ogdensburg Cemetery. Contributions in Gloria?s memory may be made to the Rescue Mission, 155 Gifford St., Syracuse, NY 13202 or to the Liverpool United Methodist Church, 604 Oswego St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
