Joan Polano

July 25, 1937 — February 6, 2016

Joan (Bajus) Polano, 78, of North Syracuse, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2015 at Crouse Hospital. Joan grew up and resided in Mattydale for many years and was a 1955 graduate of North Syracuse High School. She was the daughter of the late Rudolf and Ann (Krupka) Bajus.

Joan worked for Thermopatch in Syracuse for 15 years before retiring in 1995. Prior to that, she worked at Central Packaging Supply and Westinghouse. Joan enjoyed her many trips to various casinos as well as bowling which she did for many years on the Mattyettes Bowling League at Strike 'N Spare Lanes. She loved being with her family especially their summers spent at camp.

Joan was predeceased by her husband, Raymond, in 2013.

She is survived by her two children: David Polano and Debra DiRoma, both of North Syracuse; two granddaughters: Cheryl and Julie DiRoma; and by her cousins.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 -7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale, NY. A Prayer service will begin Thursday, 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose of Lima Church, 409 South Main St., North Syracuse. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
