Nancy M. Poplawski, 84, of Mattydale, died Friday after a sudden illness at her home. Born in Tupper Lake, Nancy grew up in Malone and Syracuse. She graduated in 1952 from Nottingham High School and was the daughter of the late Lawrence E. and Margaruite (Larocque) McDonell.
Nancy worked as a teller in the loan department of Lincoln Bank during the 1950's and later at E-Z Distributors (Tupperware) for several years but for most of her life, Nancy had the best job in the world - raising her children. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nancy was a longtime communicant of St. Margaret's Church and a member of their Confraternity of Christian Mothers and the Altar Rosary Society.
Nancy was predceased by her husband of 63 years, Chester "Chet" K. Poplawski.
Surviving are her seven children: Cheryl (Steven) Feder of Rochester, Karl of Clay, Bruce of Mattydale, Denise (George) Harrington of North Syracuse, David of Schenectady, Kevin (Tracey) of North Syracuse, and Wendy of Mattydale; a brother: James (Ann) McDonell; 11 grandchildren: Jennifer (Brian) Feder, Rebecca Feder, Carrie Feder, Sara (Dan) Radecki, George (Jennifer) Harrington, Laura (Pete Gavin) Harrington, Joshua, Amanda (Mark Auer), Matthew, Ryan (Nicole), and Cory Poplawski; her nine great grandchildren, : George, Nathan, Peter, Braydan, Austin, Elana, Jacob, Nolan, Alaina and one expected in the fall ; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Monday from 4-7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Prayer Services will begin on Tuesday, 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by a 10 am Mass of Christian burial is at St. Margaret's Church, Mattydale. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery. Contributions may be made to St. Margaret's Church or Mattydale Volunteer Fire Dept.
