Harriet C. ?Hitz? Potter, 79, of Brewerton Rd., Cicero died Wednesday at the Iroquois Nursing Home. A native of Oswego Mrs. Potter was an alum of Oswego High and graduated in 1948 from Oswego State University with a Bachelor?s Degree in Teaching. She retired in 1965 after many years as a teacher with the Liverpool and Troy school districts. She was a member of the Cicero United Methodist Church and its alter Guild. She married the love of her life Robert N. ?Bob? Potter in 1957, who predeceased her in 2004. Together, they were very active in collecting and restoring antique fire apparatus. She was the first female president of SPAAMFAA, was a life member of National SPAAMFAA, served on the Board of Directors of the Cicero Free Library. She also was a former member of the North Syracuse Garden Club In the 1960?s and 70?s she and Bob were avid snowmobilers and enjoyed riding with a group of close friends all over upstate New York.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law B. Jay and Janice Potter of Cicero, a sister Jean Perkins of Oswego, a granddaughter Rhiannon, several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 1 to 3 and 7 to 9 pm Monday at the Krueger Funeral Home 2619 Brewerton Rd. Rte. 11 Mattydale. Funeral services will be 10am Tuesday at the funeral home.
