Wilma R. ?Sally? Charlebois Powell, 90, formerly Brewerton Rd. Mattydale, died Friday at the Crossings Nursing home in Minoa. A native of Theresa Mrs. Powell, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Pearl Kring Charlebois. She resided in Rochester for most of life before moving to the Syracuse and Mattydale areas 30 years ago.
She retired in 1969 after 25 years as a calibrator with the Taylor Scientific Instrument Co. in Rochester. After that, she worked for many years in the Women?s Apparel Dept. at JC Penny. Wilma was a devoted Catholic and was a former communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church and St. Margaret?s Church in Mattydale. She also enjoyed gardening and working with plants. She loved to crochet and play bingo.
She was predeceased by her first husband Edward Honsinger and her second husband Walter Powell in 1987. She is survived by an adopted daughter Georgia Owens of Bridgeport, a sister Genevieve Folk of Elmira, a brother Clifton Charlebois of Watertown, several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 4 to 7 pm Monday at the Krueger Funeral Home 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale, Funeral services will be 9:30 am Tuesday at the funeral home, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 am in St, Margaret?s church. Burial will be at White haven Cemetery in Rochester.
