Robert "Bob" J. Race, 88, of Liverpool, died Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Iroquois Nursing Home. Bob was a native of Conquest, NY, resided in Liverpool since 1955 and maintained a summer cottage in Charleston Lake, Canada affectionately referred to as "R.J. Race's Cliff Side Haven." He attended Port Byron Central Schools and was the son of the late Frank R. and Ethel L. (Jetty) Race.
Bob retired in 1992 after 42 years as a general manager for Pepsi-Cola Bottling in Syracuse and Auburn. He was the chairman of the Cayuga County Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Syracuse Jay-Cees. Bob loved working in his yard and was very proud of his manicured landscaping. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in North Syracuse.
Bob is survived by his wife of 67 years, the former Betsy (Ross); their two daughters: Cynthia Hutson of Liverpool and Robin (Rob) Stiles of Juno Beach, FL; two sons: David M. (Joannie) Race of Liverpool and Gregory A. (Cherie) Race of Auburn; 16 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 - 7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. A prayer service will begin on Thursday at 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose of Lima Church. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, Dewitt.
