Alta A. Raciti, 96, our beautiful angel of a Mom and Gramma, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 27, at Loretto Health and Rehabilitation Center in Syracuse. She was born and raised in Syracuse, the daughter of George and Helen (Fonda) VanDeuson, graduating from Nottingham High School in 1942. She resided with her husband Rudy and children on Hinsdale Road in Mattydale for 40 years before moving on to Cobblestone Square apartments in Cicero, Barrett Dewitt apartments in East Syracuse, and for 7 years at Sedgwick Heights Assisted Living in Syracuse.
Alta retired after several years with Continental Telephone Corp. in Liverpool. Prior to that she had worked for New York Telephone as an operator then in later years as Service Supervisor at K Mart in Mattydale. She bowled many years at both Strike ‘N Spare Lanes and Bowling Green. She also enjoyed playing bingo at the Hinsdale Fire Department, doing crafts and sewing. She delighted in spending time time with her children and grandchildren and extended family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Rudy, after 49 years of marriage in 1994, a son, Richard in 2015, brothers George, Russell, Frederick, Jack and Robert, and sister, Jean.
Alta is survived by daughters Judy (Bob) Mandel of Clay and Joy (Louis Zupan) Raciti of Canastota, a daughter-in-law Dianne Raciti of Mexico, grandchildren Matt and Jill Mandel of Clay, several step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 -7:00 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Funeral Services are Friday, 11:00 am, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Onondaga Valley Cemetery, Syracuse.
