Leland C. ?Bud? Ridgeway, 83, of Beley Ave, Mattydale, died Friday at St. Joseph?s Hospital in Syracuse. Of six children, he was the sole surviving son of the late Clarence Ridgeway and Emma Barber. A native of Oswego County, Leland resided in the Mattydale area for more than 55 years.
Leland served in the Army during World War II. He retired in 1985 after more than 30 years as a carpenter for the United Brotherhood of Carpenter & Jones Local 747. Leland was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge in Baldwinsville and enjoyed golfing in his retirement. He was an avid bowler and a member of several leagues at Strike N? Spare lanes in Mattydale. Leland was a member of St. Margaret?s Church.
Leland was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Doris Quilty in 2005. He is survived by his two daughters; Kim Ridgeway, of Liverpool, and Pamela Howie Flett, of Syracuse, his son; Kevin Jeannie Ridgeway, of Cleveland, five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Friends may call Sunday from 4-7pm at Krueger Funeral 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. Services are Monday at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Plains Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Mattydale Volunteer Fire Dept., 173 East Molloy Road, Mattydale NY 13211.
