Anne (Root) Riley, 89, of Mattydale, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at home with Hospice care and her family at her side. Born Oct. 12, 1927 in Syracuse, Anne was the daughter of the late Fred and Amelia (Kirsch) Root. She received her education at St. John the Baptist High School. Anne met the love of her life, Cornelius "Red" Riley while they worked at NY Telephone Company. They were wed on June 10, 1950 at St. Margaret's Church in Mattydale. Anne was a proud and devout Catholic and an active member of St. Margaret's for her entire life.
She was predeceased by her son, John "Barney" Riley in 1982.
Anne is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Red; their children: Kathleen (Ray) Svoboda of Liverpool, Meme (Bill) O'Connor of West Monroe, Michael (JoAnne) Riley of Albany, Peggy Singer of Liverpool; her 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Sister Dorothy Root CSJ of Latham, Mary Cappon of Victor, Jeanne Spear of Liverpool, John Root of Buffalo, Charlie Root of Watertown, and David Root of Constantia.

Friends may call on Friday from 4 - 7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. A Prayer Service will begin on Saturday, 11:00 am, at the funeral home followed by an 11:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret's Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.
