Rita (Hildman) Ingerson, age 93, of North Syracuse, passed away on October 16, 2022, at her son’s home, surrounded by her loving family. Rita was raised on the North side of Syracuse where she graduated from Assumption School in 1946. She was the daughter of the late Theodore and Maria (Kessler) Hildman.
Rita worked for The New York Telephone Company and The Lil Peddler in Syracuse. She was a member of St. Margaret's Church in Mattydale. Rita cared deeply for her family and friends. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She was always the first to offer help, and was often found at her kitchen table, with a cup of coffee, or an “adult beverage,” offering support and laughter to others. She was happiest when surrounded by her family. Anyone who knew her loved her for her selflessness, compassion for others and great sense of humor. Despite many challenges through her life, she had an indomitable spirit that stayed with her until her final days.
She was predeceased by her husband, William "Bill" Ingerson in 1982, several brothers and a sister.
Rita is survived by three children: Gary (Jennifer) Ingerson, Patricia (Jack) Fioramonti, and Debra (Steven) Parker; seven grandchildren: Ryan, Jessica, Amanda, Jacqueline, Matthew, Nicole and Simone; five great grandchildren: Madison, Jacob, Claudia, Parker and Cash; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was especially fond of her niece, Marie.
Rita’s family would like to thank the exceptional staff at The Nottingham Retirement Community for their excellent care and support they provided to Rita for the past two years. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rita's memory may be made to The Nottingham through The Loretto Foundation 700 East Brighton Ave., Syracuse, NY 13205.
