Edith F. Rogers, 86, of Makyes Road in South Onondaga, died Wednesday at Community General Hospital. She was a lifetime resident of South Onondaga and the daughter of the late Bennie E. Rogers and Ruth A. Fenner.
Edith was a 1942 graduate of Onondaga Central High and attended Powelson Business Institute where she earned her Associates Degree in 1970. She worked for the former S.S. Kresge in Salina, now Kmart, from 1942-1968 and then at Onondaga Savings Bank in Syracuse as a Secretary in the loan department before retiring in 1986. Edith was a member of the Morning Star Chapter OES #289 in Marcellus. She was formally trained singer, was a soloist regularly at Plymouth Congregational Church and enjoyed playing the piano. Edith was a member of the South Onondaga United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her two sisters: Irene S. Rogers of South Onondaga and Esther Hutton of East Syracuse; a niece, Natalie J. Kennel of Los Angeles, CA; nephew, Norman Hutton of Franklin Lakes, NJ; and several cousins, including Ross and Ludeen Fenner.
Services and Burial in South Onondaga Cemetery will be held in the spring. Contributions in Edith's memory may be made to Rosamond Gifford Zoo, One Conservation Place, Syracuse, NY 13204.
