John Major Rogers, 71, of Pine Crest Manor Apartments in Liverpool, died Saturday at his home unexpectedly. John was a native of Dillon, South Carolina, and had resided in the Eastwood, Liverpool and North Syracuse areas since 1970. He was the son of the late Will and Mary C. Rogers.
John was a graduate of Central Tech High School in Syracuse. He was a US Navy Veteran and served in the Naval Reserves from 1958-1963. He was employed by General Electric for 28 years as a supervisor in their TVR-CRT and Heavy Military Divisions before retiring in 1992. John was an avid S.U. and Buffalo Bills fan and valued time spent with his family and friends especially his relationship with great nephew, Frank Farnsworth III.
Surviving are his daughter: Wendy Martin Lockie of Cold Springs, NY; a brother: Willie Faye Rogers of Goldsboro, NC; and several nieces and nephews including Judy Farnsworth of Liverpool, Frederick Hinds of Weedsport, and Foster Hinds of Canisteo, NY.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
