Robert Rogers

July 19, 1918 — April 29, 2006

Robert ?Bob? L. Rogers, 87, of Malden Rd. Mattydale, died Saturday at St. Joseph?s Hospital following a lengthy illness. A native of Locke, NY and a 1936 of Dryden High School, Mr. Rogers resided in Mattydale since 1963.
Bob has worked for the Metro Mattress Co. in Syracuse since 1945, in charge of the next day deliveries. He was a life member of the Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department and served as it?s Chief from 1944-46. He also served several terms on the board of Fire Commissioners. He was a former member of St. Margaret?s Church in Mattydale.
He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years Catherine who died in 1994 and two brothers George and Leland. Surviving are a daughter Bonnie Sweeney of Syracuse, three brothers Gordon Rogers of Killawog, Donald Rogers of Colorado, Lloyd Rogers of Florida, four grandchildren, Donald Sweeney Jr. of Mattydale, Jennifer Wheelock of Warners, Belinda Sweeney of Liverpool and Catherine Pflug of Rochester, 15 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews Lee, Buddy, Robert and Kitty as well as his long time companion Velma Troxler of North Syracuse.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Thursday at the Krueger Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 am Friday at the funeral home 2619 Brewerton Rd. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens, Dewitt. Contributions may be made to the Hinsdale Vol. Fire Dept. Malden Rd. Mattydale, NY 13211.
