J. Patricia Root

J. Patricia Root, 92, of West Molloy Road in Mattydale, passed away Sunday, October 24th at University Hospital. Patricia was born in Greenwood, SC, and resided in Mattydale since 1937. She was the daughter of the late Eugene C. and Jean E. (Owens) Jennings and a 1946 graduate of North Syracuse High School.

Patricia was a member of the Salina Free Library Book Club, a Charter Member of C.N.Y. Fine Arts, a member of Salina Civic seniors, and was an accomplished artist. She was also a member of St. Margaret's Church in Mattydale.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 73 years, Harold in 2020 and by a son, Murray Root in 2002.

Patricia is survived by her two daughters: Dr. Marlene Ryan of Syracuse, and Marsha (Paul) Vautrain of Mattydale; a son: Mark (Lauren) H. Root of Madison, VA; two siblings: Nancy Barrett of Mattydale and Eric L. Marx of Liverpool; five grandchildren: Jeremy (Jill) Ryan, Jessica (Jason) Dewey, Evan (Natalie) Vautrain, Sean (Emerald) Root, and Jessica (Max) Marcy; ten great grandchildren: Nathan, Jerad, Ryley, Brooklyn, Cadence, Evan, Nolan, Max, Penelope, and Donovan; and one great great grandson, Gianni.

Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 -7:00 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. A Prayer service will begin on Friday, 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 am Mass of Christian burial at St. Margaret's Church. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum, Syracuse.
