Evelyn "Ebbie" A. Rose, 88, longtime resident of Hyland Drive in North Syracuse, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday. Evelyn was a native of Salisbury, Maryland and was the daughter of the late Ernest and Lula Hobbs.
Evelyn retired in 1985 after more than 20 years as a secretary for Agway Corporation's Research and Development Division. She was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church, a member of their Altar Rosary Society, sang in their funeral choir and actively participated in many of the church functions. Evelyn was a member of the Institute of Retired Professionals where she served as the group's secretary and volunteered at the Red Cross Blood Bank and the Salina Free Library.
She was predeceased by her husband of 24 years, Francis Rose, in 1965 and by her granddaughter, Elizabeth, in 1972.
Surviving are her two daughters: Kathleen Wayne Amidon of Lafayette, and Julia Donald Polacci of North Syracuse; her twin sister: Elinor McNeal of Salisbury, MD; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; two great great granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday from 4-7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home Inc., 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. A Prayer service will begin on Friday at 8:30 am in the funeral home followed by a 9 am Mass of Christian burial at St. Margaret's Church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Oswego.
