Roger H. Rousche, 72, of John Street, Central Square, died Saturday at St. Joseph?s Health Care Center following a courageous 14 year cancer battle with multiple myeloma. A native of Mattydale, Roger resided in Central Square for the past 50 years. He was the son of the late Herbert and Thelma Rousche.
Roger was a graduate of North Syracuse High School and attended Syracuse University. He was a store manager of the Loblaws grocery stores in Mattydale and North Syracuse until they closed and went on to work maintenance for Cobblestone Apartments. Roger was the past president of the Brewerton Lions Club and enjoyed camping, fishing and being with his friends at his camp in Little America, Orwell, NY. He was a former member of the Brewerton United Methodist Church.
Roger was predeceased by his sister, Norine Pecci in 2002. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Myrna Moore Rousche; his three daughters, Debbie Barry Abbott, of Brewerton, Christine Scott Howe, of North Syracuse, and Linda Janes and her companion Paul Messier, of Pigeon Forge, TN; his two grandchildren, Brian and Eric Abbott; his sister, Nancy Sears, of Baldwinsville; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, a special 95 year old aunt Betty DeDell, of Marcellus as well as his best pal Gabby.
Friends may call Monday from 4-7pm at Krueger Funeral 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. Services will follow at 7pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Orwell.
