Miles Sabine

July 17, 1926 — December 20, 2008

Miles E. Sabine, 82, of Griffin Dr. Cicero, died Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital. A native of Syracuse, Mr. Sabine resided in Cicero since 1958. Miles was the son of the late Ralph and Marion Sabine.
Miles was a naval veteran and served aboard the USS Hornet during WWII, he retired in 1993 after 43 years as a supervisor for the Niagara Mohawk Subway Department.
He devoted 50 years to the Cicero Little League as a coach and received a citation for his service from the NYS Assembly in 1997. He was also named volunteer of the year this year at the District 8 Diamond Dinner. Miles was also a member of the Cicero American Legion and bowled in Several Leagues in the area including the greater Syracuse League and the Bowling Green League.
He was predeceased by a daughter Arlene Sabine-Sweet and a brother Rudy Sabine in 2001. Surviving his wife of 50 years the former Patricia MacDonald, two daughters Robin Doug McKenney of Loves Park IL, Kim Charlie Crouse of Clay, four sons Mark Lynn Sabine of Mission Viejo CA, Neil Kathy Sabine of Richmond Ind. Mike Sabine of Kirkville, Bill Sabine of Cicero, a son-in-law Chris Sweet of Sandy Creek, two brothers Fred Sabine of Virginia Beach, VA, Keith Sabine of Baldwinsville, 16 grandchildren Kyle, Katie, Matt, Megan, Emily, Melissa, Tierney, Brittany, Chelsea, Miles, Kaisey, Krystle, Brandy, Hunter, Jake and Bryce. and a great granddaughter Arleanea.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Monday at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale. Services will be at 11:30 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Cicero Little League P.O. Box 1929 Cicero, NY 13039.
