Michael "Mickey" H. Sauter, 61, of North Syracuse, passed away Tuesday at Crouse Hospital. Mickey was a native of Mattydale and resided on Rosewood Circle for the past 40 years. He was the son of the late Carl A. and Mae E. Henry Sauter.
Mickey graduated in 1969 from North Syracuse High School and went on to serve in the Army Reserves. He worked as a truck driver for over 40 years driving for several local companies including American Steel in Liverpool. Mickey was a member of the Syracuse Scottish Bagpipe Band as a drummer for many years. He loved his music and played drums as well as piano for various bands throughout the years. Mickey was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church in Mattydale.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Tom Sauter in the 1990's and Brian Sauter in 2006.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, the former Joyce Duplessis; their two daughters: Jennifer Sauter of Mattydale, and Amy Sauter of Syracuse; his granddaughter, Claudette Sauter, whom he helped raise; and two sisters: Betty Wentworth of Mattydale, and June Becker of TX.
Friends may call Friday from 5-8 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale, Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Saturday, 10am followed by burial in North Syracuse Cemetery.
