Carol I. Chamberlain, 78, of Shaver Ave. in North Syracuse, died surrounded by her family Wednesday, February 23, 2017. Carol grew up on the North side of Syracuse where she graduated from St. John the Baptist Academy. She met her first love while working for the phone company, marrying him at the age of 18. Carol was a stay at home mother for many years, while raising her children. She and her husband Leland, were foster parents and adopted four children in addition to having three of their own.
Carol was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Irene Easterly and by first husband, Leland Schell, in 1978. As a widow and while raising her young children, Carol earned her Registered Nursing degree from O.C.C. She worked for Crouse Hospital and P.H.P. for many years before retiring. She organized and operated a community group for widows and widowers in Syracuse for many years and attended St. John the Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Glenn "Bob" Chamberlain; her children: John Printup, Cindy (Jeffrey) LaPoint, Carrie (Richard) Yaus, Sandra (Paul) Merluzzi, Christopher (Robin) Schell, Tammy Ricci, Elizabeth Schell; a foster daughter, Janice Levando; her siblings: June (James) Casey, Diane Buckley and Frank (Loreen) Easterly; 17 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren with 3 more on the way; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call on Monday from 4:00 -7:00 pm at Krueger Funeral Home in Mattydale. A Prayer Service will begin on Tuesday, February 28th at 11:45 am at the funeral home followed by a 12:30 pm funeral service at St. John The Baptist Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.
