Rita M. Semmens, 88, of North Syracuse, passed away Sunday, September 6th, 2015 at Malta House. Rita grew up on the West end of Syracuse and resided in Montana for 20 years before moving back to Syracuse in the 1960's. Since then, she resided on Gifford Street for almost 40 years before moving to North Syracuse. She was a 1945 graduate of Central High School and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Nellie (O'Hara) Fuller.
Rita was employed for 10 years as a teller at Key Bank in Syracuse. Prior to that, she had worked at General Electric and was a communicant of St. Lucy's Church in Syracuse.
She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, William in 2000 and by a son, Joseph G. Semmens in 2006.
Rita is survived by her three children: Callie Barrett-Semmens of Syracuse, David (Cheryl) Semmens of North Syracuse, and Thomas (Cathy) Semmens of Bradenton, FL; a brother: Robert Fuller of Baldwinsville; 11 grandchildren; her 21 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rita's memory may be made to St. Lucy's Church, 432 Gifford St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
Friends may call on Sunday from 3 - 6 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Prayers will begin on Monday, 9:15 am at the funeral home followed by a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lucy's Church. Burial will be in St. Agnes' Cemetery.
