Chester "Chet" A. Sikora, 93, of Mattydale, passed away Monday, July 6, 2015 at Seneca Hill Manor. Chet grew up in Cicero and was the son of the late Jozef and Genevieve (Wilk) Sikora. He resided in Mattydale for the past 60 years.
Chet was a US Army Air retiree serving during WWII. Following the war, he joined the 174th Fighter Wing Boys from Syracuse where he served until his retirement in 1981 achieving the rank Senior Master Sergeant. Chester was one of three last surviving original members. Throughout his military career, Chet served during Korea, Vietnam, and the Cuban Missile Crisis and was activated for the Berlin Crisis and the Pueblo Crisis. He was a life member of the American Legion Post #1832 and a member of their Color Guard. Chet was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church in Mattydale.
He was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Winnie, in 2012.
Chet is survived by his seven children: Kathleen (Paul) Russo of Onondaga Hill, James Sikora of Cicero, Paul (Deborah) Sikora of Port Byron, Joseph Sikora (Loretta) of Pulaski, Richard (Terry) Sikora of Cleveland, Cynthia (Thomas) Waldt of Baldwinsville, and Timothy (Valerie) Sikora of Mattydale; a brother: Alex Sikora of Syracuse; 22 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
