Howard F. Simonds Jr., 63, of Thurston Drive, Cicero, died Wednesday at VA Medical Center. Howard was a native of Syracuse; he resided in Cicero for the past 37 years and was the son of the late Howard Simonds and Evelyn March.
Howard was a graduate of North Syracuse High School in 1964 and went on to serve in the Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as an electrician at IBEW Local 43 for well over 20 years and then as a senior sales representative at Square D Company in Syracuse. Howard was a Free and accepted Mason who served as the past master of the Centerville Memorial Masonic Lodge #648.
Howard is survived by his wife of 31 years, the former Angela Porpiglio; three sons: Howard F. Simonds III of Constantia, Jason of Cicero, and Justin of Liverpool; his two daughters, Heather Byrnes of Syracuse, and Jamie Glover of Rochester; six grandchildren: Nicole, Anthony; Daniel, Brian, Marissa and Miranda, a sister, Evelyn Ann Parker of North Syracuse; and his brother, Frederick Simonds of North Syracuse.
Friends may call Friday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale with Masonic services held at 7 pm. Funeral services will be Saturday, 10 am at the funeral home followed by burial in North Syracuse Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the family or to NAVAC P.O.
