A native of Nanticoke, PA, and resident of Mattydale for the past 50 years, Andy Sinco, 81, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2011 with the love of his family surrounding him. He served in the United States Air Force and retired from the New York Air National Guard 174th Fighter Wing at Hancock Field. Andy worked at General Electric and then retired from New Process Gear in 1989 where he had worked as a devoted fire marshal. He was a member of the Mattydale Volunteer Fire Department where he achieved his lifelong goal of being a fire chief from 1974-1975. Andy was also a member of the Mattydale American Legion Post #1832 and of the Salina Civic Seniors.
He was predeceased by his parents, Lladimore and Fanny Sinco, and his brothers: Michael, John, Harry, Nicholas, Russel, and Alex.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Betty; a son and daughter-in-law: Andrew and Kim of Mattydale; and the love of his life, his granddaughter, Kailene. Also, surviving are his three sisters: Mary Dolin of Fairfield, CT, Ann Kozlowski of North Syracuse, and Helen Czyzyk of NJ; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Sunday from 1-4pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. A prayer service will begin at the funeral home on Monday, 9:30 am followed by a 10 am Mass of Christian burial at St. Margaret's Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mattydale Volunteer Fire Dept., 173 East Molloy Rd., or St. Margaret's Church, 203 Roxboro Rd., both in Mattydale, NY 13211.
