James “Jim” O. Sindone, 76, resident of Legacy Apartments in Baldwinsville, passed away Monday, February 14th at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born on the North side of Syracuse to the late Dominick and Helen Sindone, Jim was a 1963 graduate of North High School. He resided on Rosewood Circle in North Syracuse for 44 years before relocating to Baldwinsville 10 years ago.
Jim owned and operated the family dry cleaning business, Sindone’s Quality Dry Cleaners, on Wolf Street in the city. Since his retirement in 1997, he pressed for Peter & Sons and Jaquin’s Cleaners for several years. Jim was a longtime member of the Lamp Lighters Dance Group. He and his wife, Rosie, took lessons at The Dance Place in East Syracuse for over 20 years. They won a dance contest in 1988 at the Hotel Syracuse. Jim was also a ceramics whiz. He owned and operated Studio II Ceramics and taught classes for more than 20 years during the 1980’s and 1990’s. He instilled his love of pottery in both his children and they were all able to spending quality time together working with clay. Jim was a longtime communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in North Syracuse and a member of their choir.
Jim is survived by his wife of 42 years, the former Rosemary DeFonde; their two children: Christina Marie (Peter) Desimone of Clay and James D. (Ashley) Sindone of Phoenix; a brother, Raymond (Edwina) Sindone of Venice, FL; grandfather of four: Timothy, Faith, Nicoli, and Aurora; two nephews, Raymond (Marilyn) and Daniel (Deborah) Sindone; and his niece, Jennifer (Kevin) Loop.

Friends may call Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Krueger Funeral Home, Mattydale. Prayer Services will begin Saturday 12:15 PM at the funeral home with a 1:00 PM Mass following at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 301 Ash St., Syracuse.
