Josephine Smutok, 90, passed away Sunday in Waltham, MA. Josephine was a native of Auburn where she grew up and then resided in Mattydale on 217 Raphael Ave for 50 years before moving to Wayland, MA in 2003. She was the daughter of the late George and Antonina Panna May.
Josephine was a longtime parishioner of St. Margaret's Church in Mattydale where she volunteered and cooked for some of their functions and enjoyed playing bingo.
She was predeceased by her husband of 25 years, Michael Smutok, in 1973.
Surviving are her son: Michael Wendy Smutok of Wayland, MA; two sisters-in-law: Genevieve May of Auburn, and Stella Chapman of Utah; her three grandchildren: Michael E. Amanda Smutok of Harrisville, RI, Jennifer A. Samuel Graves of Topsfield, MA, and David C. Kate Smutok of Northfield, NH; and four great granddaughters: Makayla, Julia, and Sara Graves and Annabel Smutok.
Friends may call Saturday from 9-10 am at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale, with a 10 am prayer service following. A 10:30 am Mass of Christian burial will be at St. Margaret's Church with burial in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse. Contributions in Josephine's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
