John G. Stapleton, 48, of Liverpool, died Sunday at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Born in Germany, John grew up in Florida, Michigan and New York. He eventually settled into the North Syracuse and Liverpool area.
John was a 1979 graduate of North Syracuse High. He was employed at Sysco Foods in Syracuse for the past 20 years. His most current position held was as a warehouse supervisor. John was a member of the Syracuse Elks Lodge #31, the American Bowling Congress and bowled in many leagues including the Friday night league at Bowl Mor in East Syracuse. He enjoyed many outdoor sports including softball, golf, hunting and fishing. John was also an avid S.U. sports fan.
He was predeceased by his father, Charles K. Stapleton.
Surviving are his fiancée: Kate Andress with whom he resided and her children: Ryan Kristina, Lee and Sara Andress; his mother: Erika Stapleton of North Syracuse; five siblings: Dennis Betty Stapleton of Mouth Card, KY, Debbie Keith Wallace of Port Richie, FL, Cathy Ron Santocki of North Syracuse, Monika Tom Dudley of Central Square, James Carol Stapleton of Liverpool; his two nieces, five nephews, two great nieces and one great nephew.
Friends may call Thursday from 4-7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home Inc., 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale, NY. Services will follow at 7:00 pm. According to his wishes, John's cremated remains will be scattered at the state line overlook in Breaks Interstate Park in Kentucky.
