Lyle "Stoney" Stone, 79, longtime resident of Liverpool, died Friday, May 20, 2016, at home with his loving family by his side. Born in Little France, NY, Lyle was a 1954 graduate of Camden High School. He moved to Liverpool and has resided there for over 57 years and was the son of the late Jesse and Emma (Woolridge) Stone.
Lyle served in the 174th NYANG Fighter Wing from 1956 - 1962 during the Berlin Crisis and later with the Reserve unit. He retired in 1997 from Red Star Trucking as a mechanic; prior to that, he worked for Thompson and Johnson Equipment Company. Lyle was a member of the Local IAM Mechanics Union and a member and past treasurer of the Osceola Snowmobile Club. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman, and NASCAR racing fan. Lyle grew up helping his father who was a logger and carried on his love of cutting wood.
He was predeceased by his brother, Charles, in 2002.
Lyle is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Virginia Segal; their two children: Lynn Stone of Liverpool and Ronald (Tamara) Stone of Cicero; four grandchildren: Brianna, Austin, Alexa, and Adison; his sister: Shirley Herbert of Central Square; a sister-in-law, Deborah Stone of Camden; and by several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 - 6 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale, with a funeral service following at 6:00 pm.
