Neva Tyo Stonecipher, 81, formerly of Breman Ave in Mattydale, died Wednesday at Crouse Hospital. Neva was a native of Norfolk, NY and had resided in Mattydale for 50 years until 2007 before moving to Liverpool. She was the daughter of the late Augustus and Johanna "Lulu" Tyo.
Neva retired after several years at Crouse Hinds in Syracuse.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ray Stonecipher in 1997; her sisters, Adelaide Small and Mary Vallance; and brothers, Bernard, Louis & Harry Tyo.
Neva is survived by her children: Gwen Ron Fire of Liverpool and Gail John Schultz of North Syracuse; two sons: Gary Stonecipher of Syracuse, and Guy Judy Stonecipher of Chittenango; her sister: Eileen Fox of FL; and three brothers: Augustus and Howard Tyo both of FL, and Russell Tyo of Oswego, NY; her 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Burial with graveside service will be on Friday, 11:00am in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Camp Good Days & Special Times, 356 North Midler Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13206 or to the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse NY 13220.
