Susan "Mema" A. Otis, 72, of Liverpool, passed away Thursday, October 26th, 2023. Born to the late Leo and Mary (Freshwater) Meadows, Susan grew up in Bear Creek, North Carolina. She was a 1971 graduate of Swansboro High School and resided in the Liverpool area for the past 42 years.

Susan worked for Eagle Comtronics for several years during the 1980’s. Following that, she was a proud homemaker devoting her time and efforts to raising her family. Susan was the past President of the VFW Post 3146 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling and lived in Cairo, Egypt for a couple of years with her husband. During her formative years, Susan had a strong love of horses and was a barrel racer earning multiple ribbon prizes. Later in life, she enjoyed knitting blankets for her family.

Susan was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Gary R. Otis in 2011, by their son, Kenneth R. Otis in 1971, and a sister, Libby Holden.

She is survived by two children: Christine (William) Kot of Cicero and James (Andrea) Otis of North Syracuse; a brother, Fred (Sherri) Meadows of Newport, NC; a sister, Terri Lambrecht of Bear Creek, NC; Mema to four grandchildren: Hunter Kot, Kaley Otis, Kiera Kot, and Ryan Otis; and her special beloved dog, Mookie, who passed away before her.

Contributions in Susan’s memory may be made to the CNY S.P.C.A., 5878 E. Molloy Rd., Mattydale, NY 13211 or to Helping Hounds, 7268 Caswell Ave., North Syracuse, NY 13212.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00 -7:00 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale, with VFW Post #3146 Auxiliary performing a vigil service to conclude the evening. Funeral Service and burial will be Thursday, 11:00 am, in Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.
