Kathleen J. "Kate" Sweeting (Sweeting)

Kathleen “Kate” Sweeting, 56, died Friday at home. Kate was a native of Syracuse and grew up in Parish. She was a 1976 graduate of A.P.W. High and resided in Syracuse from 1976-1980 before serving in the US Army in Nuremburg Germany. She was then stationed at Fort Drum with the Army Reserves for two years. Kate lived in Brevard County in Florida for over 25 years before returning to Syracuse in January 2009.

She worked as a professional driver for many years at various Syracuse area companies including Yellow Cab and the Southwest Center. Kate was an avid fisherman and loved to spend time outdoors.

She was the daughter of the late Virginia and Morris Sweeting Sr. and was predeceased by five brothers: Ralph, Shorty, Pete, Morris and Kenneth Sweeting.

Surviving are her two brothers: Jimmy Sweeting of Williamstown, Richard "Dick" (Mary Beth) Sweeting of Syracuse, NY; a sister: Virginia "Mary Jane" (Terry) Reynolds of Syracuse, NY and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Thursday from 4-6 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale, with funeral services following at 6 pm.
