Robert ?Bob? Thompson, 90, of Buckley Rd. Liverpool died Thursday at Rosewood Heights Health Care Center. A native of Saratoga Springs, Bob grew up in Troy and resided in Utica for 25 years before moving to Liverpool in 1959. Bob served in the Civilian Conservation Corps CCC and Works Progress Administration WPA
He retired in 1981 after 16 years as a maintenance man for the NYS Department of Transportation. Since then, he worked part time for 22 years at the Salina Civic Center performing maintenance duties. Bob was a communicant of St. Margaret?s Church in Mattydale where he served as an usher. He was also a 50 year member of the Bishop Curley Council of the Knights of Columbus, in North Syracuse and a member of the Mattydale-Hinsdale Seniors.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years the former Helen Gruszka, four sons Peter J. of Syracuse, Paul R. of Syracuse, Theodore M. of Massachusetts, Robert C. of Syracuse and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Tuesday at the Krueger Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Margaret?s. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Utica. Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Monday and from 9:30 to 10:30 am Tuesday at the funeral home 2619 Brewerton Rd.
