Sharon (Elston) Thompson, 60, longtime resident of North Syracuse, passed away Tuesday, November 30th at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse. Sharon was born to the late William and Evelyn (Wilson) Patterson and grew up in New Jersey before relocating to North Syracuse in the 1970’s. She was a 1979 graduate of Cicero High School.
Sharon was a managing partner of Syracuse Fiber Recycling in Solvay for the past 16 years. Sharon took great pride in caring for people in their homes and previously worked as a nurse for many years until she met her late husband, Roger Elston. They were married in 1989. She loved all animals, rescued several dogs and maintained a small zoo at her home. Sharon enjoyed drawing, crafting, crocheting, puzzles and of course, shopping.
She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband Roger in 2005, by a brother, Donald Patterson and a cousin, Diana Wesley.
Sharon is survived by her two children, Melanie A. Elston and Roger W. Elston, both of Liverpool; 9 step-children; two brothers, Gary (Michele) Patterson of North Syracuse and William Patterson of Liverpool; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; 4 nieces and nephews: Michael, Stacy, Chad and Arica Patterson; and several cousins.
