Barbara E. Thomson, 86, of Fairmount. passed away Wednesday, March 3rd at her home. Born to the late Edwin E. and Emma (Fitzgerald) Johnson, Barbara was a graduate of Eastwood High School where she grew up and resided in Fairmount for the past 65 years.
She retired in 2000 after 20 years at the Multiple Sclerosis Society in Syracuse as a Patient Service Director. Barbara was the past President and a member of the Fairmount Community Library, a member of the Onondaga Preservation Association, a past chairperson and volunteer for the Rape Crisis Center of Syracuse, and one of the founders and past President of the Onondaga Hill Antique Club. She was the chairperson of the Eastwood High School Reunion Committee and organized reunions for classes from 1923-1964.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, William G. Thomson, Jr.
Surviving are her five children: Kimberlee (Mike) Geno of Mattydale, Linda (Mike) Barnes of Lumberton, NC, Susan Thomson, Debra (Fred) Harfmann of Liverpool, and Karen Todeschini of Fairmount; a brother, James Johnson of Greenbrae, CA; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
