Vincent J. Trichilo, 80, of Campbell Road in Mattydale, died Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital. A native of Syracuse, Vincent resided in Mattydale for the past 46 years and was the son of the late Cosimo and Vincenza Trichilo.
He was a graduate of Vocational High School and an Army Veteran serving in the Occupation of Europe. Vincent retired in 1979 as a sergeant major in the Army Reserves. He worked as an assistant vice president and mortgage officer for 32 years before retiring in 1987 from Gold Dome Bank and its predecessors. Vincent was the vice president of Mortgage Bankers of CNY, a past president of the Institute for Financial Education and a member of the Syracuse Optimist Club. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #1832 in Mattydale, the senior vice commander of the John Venditti Post #1 of the Italian American War Veterans, the AMVETS, the VFW Post #15033, and the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks Lodge # 31. Vincent was a communicant of Our Lady of Pompeii Church.
He was predeceased by his wife of 30 years, the former Barbara Pellenz in 1986 and his sister, Anne Cole.
Surviving are his son: Vincent "Ric" W. Trichilo of Mattydale; his friend and companion of 20 years, Diane Spina; a brother: Jerome Trichilo of Lyncourt; one sister: Antoinette Sieradzke of Syracuse; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6-9 pm at Krueger Funeral Home Inc., 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Prayer service will begin at the funeral home at 9:15am Thursday followed by a Mass at Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 10:00am. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse.
