Blanche P. Tyler, 86, formerly of Centerville Court, North Syracuse, died Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital. A native of Honolulu, Hawaii, and graduated in 1943 from the University of Hawaii and became a licensed practical nurse. She settled in the Saranac Lake area after surviving the Pearl Harbor invasion and WWII. Blanche then resided in Pitcher Hill for 43 years where she raised her family, and 10 years at Centerville court before moving to her daughter's in Cicero in August.
Blanche retired in 1988 after 10 years as a Clerk for the Royal Insurance Co. in Syracuse. Prior to that she worked as pediatric nurse at St. Mary's and St. Joseph's hospitals, and and was employed by General Electric Co. She was a communicant of St. Margaret's and a member of its Altar Rosary Society and the Socialites She was also a member of the St Rose of Lima Seniors, the Salina Civic Seniors and served on its Happy Times committee.
Blanche was predeceased by her brother David Bernard and is survived by two sons Martin Tyler III of Rome, PA, and David Janis Tyler of Cicero, a daughter Valerie Michael Priolo of Cicero, a sister Dorothy of Hawaii, her former husband of 37 years Martin A. Tyler Jr., four grandchildren; Matthew, Tiffany, Amanda, Hollie; three great-grandchildren; Devin, Ava, and Gia.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday at Krueger Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Margaret's Church. Friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale NY 13211.
