Patricia Jane Ungleich, 75, of North Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 16th. Patricia was born in Schenectady, NY, to George and Marion Hobbs. The family later settled in North Syracuse. It was there that she met and married Charles, her husband of 56 years.
Pat held many jobs over the years but the job she loved most was that of mother and grandmother. Grammie, as she was affectionately known, made those who she loved feel special and valued. Her devotion and support to them was unparalleled. Her love was expressed constantly and supportively to those who were blessed to receive it, from a heartfelt note on a birthday to a phone call when you needed a swift kick in the behind. Pat never forgot a single detail of the lives of those she loved. She built many friendships in her life as well and those relationships were forever marked by her genuine love and compassion. To be loved by her gave one a well of unconditional love, strength, and faith.
Pat enjoyed doing for others, shopping, reading cookbooks, visiting the Cape, and going to the casino. More recently, she spent time doing crafts, crossword puzzles, and playing trivia crack and bingo.
Pat had a big personality. She was opinionated, quirky, strong, and caring. She overcame much in recent years. Pat handled what life brought her way with grace and dignity. She showed those closest to her how to live life bravely, fully, and with a giving heart. As a result of her generous spirit and nurturing personality she touched the lives of family and many friends. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of all those who knew her.
Pat is survived by her husband, Charles of North Syracuse; children: Wende (Maureen) Ungleich of Painted Post, Robin Ryan of East Syracuse, and Eric (Nicole) Ungleich of Cicero; a brother: George (Kathy) Hobbs of Utica; grandchildren: Zachary Ryan, Kyler Schilling, and Logan Ungleich and Taryn "Lucy" Wallon; nephews: Jeremy (Heidi) and Trevor (Jill) Hobbs; great nieces: Margaret and Madison; and a great nephew, Maxwell.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Funeral Services will begin Thursday, 9:30 am, at the funeral home with burial in North Syracuse Cemetery following.
