Lorraine Valentino

Lorraine M. Young Valentino, 66, of Brown Ave. Mattydale, died Tuesday at St. Joseph?s Hospital after taking ill unexpecticaly at home. Mrs. Valentino resided in Syracuse for most of her life before moving to Mattydale 14 years ago. She maintained a Summer camp at Coldbrook Campsites in Port Leyden.
She worked for the past 13 years as a document checker at the Syracuse International Airport. She was a communicant of St. Margaret?s RC Church and a former member of St. John the Baptist. Lorraine was a member of the Pioneer Horseshoe Club as was the 2005 Women?s NYS Class ?B? Champ. She was also a member of the Progresso Lodge 1047 of the Sons and daughters of Italy in America where she served many years as an officer and a life member of Kelly Lynn Health club.
She was predeceased by her father Lawrence Young in 1984. Surviving are her husband of 46 years Louis, three children Mark Valentino, of Warners, Nancy Gordon Bryant, Robert Valentino both of Mattydale, her mother Juliette Young of Mattydale, two sisters Patricia Lewis Herzog , Colleen Harvey both of Mattydale, a brother Paul Theresa Young of Grand Rapids, MI., five grandchildren Keith, Maria, Stephen, Alexis, Aimee, her father-in-law Alfonso Valentino and her brother-in-law Robert Rosaria Valentino all of Italy, several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 pm Sunday at the Krueger Funeral Home 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. Services will be 9:30 am Monday at the funeral home followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Margaret?s RC Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery.
