Doreen VanSleet

Doreen F. VanSleet, 57, of Gordon Ave. in Mattydale, passed away on Tuesday at the Francis House. She was a native and life resident of Syracuse before moving to Mattydale in 1999.
Doreen was a 1966 graduate of Assumption School. She worked for the Resnick?s Pocketbook Factory for 13 years and Key Bank in Syracuse for 7 years before starting work in 1998 with Albert Damian Assoc. in Mattydale. She left there after she was diagnosed with A.L.S Lou Gerhig?s Disease in 2001.
Mrs. VanSleet was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church, a member of the American Legion Post #1832 Ladies Aux. in Mattydale and a member of the Friends of the SPCA.
She was predeceased by her parents Archie & Bernice Ellis. She is survived by her husband of 5 years George F. VanSleet Jr., a son Robert J. Nicholson Jr. of Mattydale, a daughter Denise Knaub of Baldwinsville, 2 sisters Deanne Prell of Phoenix, AZ, & Deleen Ellis of Lyncourt, 8 grandchildren Ashley, Antwan, Justin, Laura, Marissa, Erica, Kylie & Jadon, 3 nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services will be 9:30 am Saturday at the Krueger funeral Home, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 am in St. Margaret?s Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery.
