Barbara Vecchio

Barbara J. Vecchio, 80, of Simeon Dewitt Apartments, Oswego, died Friday at University Hospital. A native of Oswego, Mrs. Vecchio was one of 14 children born to the late George and Ethel Wilson. She resided on Breman Ave. in Mattydale for many years and 15 years in Central Square before returning to Oswego in 2000.
Barbara?s life long career was in the restaurant business, working in several area restaurants including the Lyncourt Grill, the Dutch Pantry, several T.J. Big Boys and Wilbornes in Central Square. She also owned and operated Ship-n-Shore Restaurant in Central Square for nearly 20 years.
She was a former communicant of St. Paul?s Church and attended St. Mary?s Church both in Oswego. Her husband Santo predeceased her in 1991.
Surviving are seven children, two sisters, a brother, 19 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
Funeral services will be Monday at 1 pm at the Krueger Funeral Home 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Oswego. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Charles and Mary Haney Fund c/o Oswego Hematology Oncology, 140 W. 6th St. Suite 110 Oswego, NY 13126.
