Victor N. Petit, 62, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on Saturday, April 8th, 2023.
Born in Syracuse and raised in Caughdenoy, Vic was the son of the late Victor E. and Patricia (Doria) Petit. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Day. Vic is survived and greatly missed by his wife of 35 years, Susan Giegold, their beloved cats, Nala, Saschmo and Maia; two brothers, David (Donna) Petit of Cicero and Jason (Julie) Petit of Liverpool; sister-in-law Bonnie (Dan) Cleary of NJ; and his nieces and nephews.
Vic was a loving brother who, while he fought with and picked on his siblings as siblings do, he was protective and quick to defend them against outsiders. He grew up hiking in the High Peak Region of the Adirondacks and fishing in the Oneida River. He became an ADK 46er at age 16. He was a graduate of Paul V. Moore High School and attended Onondaga Community College. Vic recently celebrated 40 years of employment as a manager for the Rite Aid Distribution Center in Liverpool. He was a hard worker with a sense of integrity and dedication. He was always ready to help a coworker, stranger, or neighbor.
Vic held a deep love for the outdoors and all animals, especially his cats. He enjoyed spending time with his father, tinkering with anything mechanical, working on projects around the house, reading Stephen King novels and vacationing in Cape May. He is remembered for his kindness, sense of humor and his adept storytelling.
Vic lived his life fully with no regrets. His courage never wavered. Even in moments of pain, his tender side emerged with hope and grace. Vic’s calm, steady presence will be dearly missed.
The family would like to thank the Cancer Center, ED, MICU and Internal Medicine teams at Upstate University Hospital for their compassionate care during Vic’s brief illness.
Contributions in Vic’s memory may be made to Spring Farm CARES Animal and Nature Sanctuary, 3364 NY-12, Clinton, NY 13323.
