Douglas J. Von Pless, 61, of Liverpool, passed away Friday, June 26, 2015. Douglas grew up in the Mattydale and North Syracuse area where he graduated from North Syracuse High in 1972. He received his Bachelors Degree in Chemistry in 1977 from the University of Colorado after attending Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences and Syracuse University.
Doug was an industrial chemist who owned and operated his own business, Von Pless Chemical Corporation, for more than 30 years. He enjoyed woodworking as well as camping, boating and fishing on Lake Ontario, Lake Placid and Oneida Lake. Doug was a former member of the Syracuse Chamber of Commerce and was the past President of the Forest Hills Homeowners Association. He spent years exploring and researching the patterns and structure of prime numbers.
Doug was predeceased by his father, James, in 1983.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, the former JoAnn (Bobilin); two children: Gregory (Sue Zheng) Von Pless of Arlington, MA and Leslie (Jennifer Rosenthal) Von Pless of New York City; his mother, Mae Von Pless of Cleveland, OH; two brothers: George (Beverly) Von Pless of Kirkville, and David (Doreen) Von Pless of Cleveland, OH; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 pm at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. A Celebration of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, 10:30 am, at the funeral home.
