Phyllis Jean Buckley Walker Kearney, 81, born October 31, 1923 in Gouveneur, New York to the late Ida Monterville and Arthur Buckley. She resided all over central New York as well as the southern tier and a couple of years in Phoenix AZ, but she lived in North Syracuse for the 40 years before moving to Loretto two years ago.
She graduated in 1942 from Weedsport Central School. She was previously married to Charles Walker from 1946 to 1957. She was the widow of Eugene ?Gene? Kearney, who predeceased her in 1990. She and her late husband Gene operated the Pub Restaurant from 1968 to 1979. She retired in 1985 from Pathology Associates of Syracuse. She was educated at Robert Packer Hospital and Laboratory. She previously worked at the Syracuse VA and CIM hospitals. She was an alumnus of Upstate Medical University Health Professionals Alumni Association. Her favorite pastime was playing cards and visiting the Turning Stone Casino. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Arthur Buck, Leon Joe & Lawrence Buckley.
She is survived by her son Kim Walker Sandy of Athens, GA, granddaughter Marlana & John Meehan also of GA, grandson Ryan Walker and Jaime Simpson of Syracuse, two great grandchildren Kiersten & Keven Meehan, her sister Margery Midge Wilkinson of Waverly, NY, her caring friend Jeanne Harris along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Tuesday at the Krueger Funeral Home 2619 Brewerton Rd. Mattydale. Friends may call 4-7 pm Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery.
